Chauffeur or Driver ?
Business license of Limousine is in category of Transportation Business.
Same as Bus, Taxi and Track under State of California Public Utility Commission.
There are generally two types of Limo orders.
Airport transfer and Charter.
When I work for major limo company, many of my co-workers were doing 5 or 6 airport trips with sedan every day .
It makes them to feel that they are in transportation business.
I think some of them feel themselves as just a "Driver" with black suit in clean car.
Sometimes, limo industry itself mix with Driver and Chauffeur but when we do charter trip.
We can not be just "Driver" as Bus, Taxi, Airport Shuttle or tow truck drivers.
We have to be "Chauffeur" rather than just "Driver" and Proud to be the one.
I use to be a frequent Limo passenger when I was in different industry 15 years ago.
I use to ride limo in every few month for business use.
I could feel difference for each trip but I didn't know why and what makes different until I start to drive myself.
Limousine industry should be Service industry rather than transportation business.

Criminal back ground check
I had worked for three nationwide large limo companies.
I know many small and independent limo companies.
Only one limo company which I know does criminal back ground check of Chauffeurs when they hire.
It make sense because sometimes you leave valuable in limo, sometimes you send your high-school girls alone.
You don't want chauffeur who has Child abuse, rape or burglar history.
It is hard to conduct criminal back ground check to every chauffeurs.
But I just wanted to let you know that I passed FBI, Homeland security and California DOJ back ground check more than 4 times because my firearm license and security business license.
and we are required to cooperate to random drug test by state PUC.

Drinking Glasses
Nobody has dish-washer machine in limo.
There are many different way to clean glasses by chauffeurs.
* Some chauffeur use Windex to clean glasses.
(I think it must leave ammonia smell)
* I saw chauffeur dip glasses to Ice box to use water from melted Ice.
(He mix with leftover drink and clean Ice. I hope he didn't use those Ice to client)
* I saw chauffeur use paper towel (It works)
* I saw chauffeur use disposable wet-wipe (it costly but works)
* Many chauffeur use straight Vodka from decanter (it costly but works)
* Not only once but few chauffeur asked me if I have towel because he didn't have one.
He use my rag to wipe drinking glasses without any water. He just wipe glasses with rag.
then he use it to wipe windows and car body.
I hope he didn't re-use that towel to wipe glasses again at next stop.
* Some (many) of chauffeur don't even touch glasses until they go back to office.
Why it happen ?
One reason I can see is, Many limo companies assign random driver to random vehicle.
Chauffeur shows up to office and dispatcher hand him key.
He/She doesn't know if he will drive Stretch, Sedan or SUV till he/she get assignment.
He/She walks to company parking and jump in to assigned vehicle which doesn't have any towel or cleaning kit in it.
* What I do is
I carry 3 different towels for Windows, Car body(wax) and drinking glass only.
I don't mix them.
I use little amount of food safe organic cleaner and vodka mixed with water in spray bottle.
Because pressured stream from spray bottle can wash down sugar/juice in glasses with just little amount of organic cleaner.
Vodka is for sanitation purpose because high alcohol volume.
Then wipe with towel specific for drinking glasses.
I have White, Blue and Yellow towel in my trunk (Yellow is in Plastic drawer)
If you see me wiping glasses with other than specific towel to wipe glasses, your ride will be free.
That is just what I do every day and I don't say my way is best way, but I do care for your health as much as Safety.
One tip for you
When you see any chauffeur, ask him that you like to see his trunk or front passenger area.
If you see only couple of towels there, most likely he will use them to wipe your drinking glasses or won't clean inside of limo till he go back to office.
